Black Bear tranquilized, released back to habitat in Bandipora

Bandipora, Nov 24 (NVI): A black bear was captured alive in Dardpora Arin village of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, officials said.

The wildlife ranger of the area, Tanveer Ahmed told NVI that, the bear had been roaming in the area for several days, creating fear among the local population.

“The Wildlife Department employees were camping in the area, and after several days of persistent efforts, the bear was caught in a cage and subsequently tranquilized,” he said.

He added, to prevent any emergencies, the department had heightened vigilance in the area. “We remained on alert to avoid any untoward incidents and successfully captured the black bear without causing it any injury in Dardpora Arin village,” Tanveer said.

He added, after its capture, the bear was transported to the forests of Tragbal, a designated conservation area, where it was safely released into its natural habitat—(News Vibes of India)
