Srinagar, Nov 25(NVI): J&K Congress President Tariq Hameed Karra today urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to fulfill their promise of restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir without any further delay.

Karra pointed out that the Supreme Court has already issued a directive to the central government to restore the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, which had been revoked in August 2019. “This judicial intervention has added weight to the demand for statehood, making it even more urgent, ” he said.

Karra expressed his hope that the promise made by the government is not simply another “jumla” (a term often used to refer to political statements or assurances that are made but never followed through).

Karra further said that while today’s gathering was a protest but a reminder to the central government of the promise made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

He stressed that this was not just a political issue but one that deeply affects the lives of ordinary people.

“The restoration of statehood is not only a matter of political significance but also crucial for the economic, social, and cultural well-being of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, ” Karra said– (News Vibes of India)
