Jammu, Nov 25 (NVI) : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today conducted an on-site inspection of the Tawi River Front project in Jammu and stated that the site will be a major tourist attraction.
Speaking to the media, the Lieutenant Governor stated that the first phase of this flagship project under the Jammu Smart City initiative is expected to be completed by January 2025. He said that the Tawi River Front would significantly enhance Jammu’s tourism appeal, complementing recently completed projects such as the Jambu Zoo, the Light & Sound Show, and the Temple of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams.
Sinha said that destinations like Suchetgarh and the Tirumala Tirupati Temple attract 5,000-6,000 visitors daily, with numbers rising on weekends. “Efforts are underway to develop additional tourist destinations in Jammu city and the surrounding region with assistance from the Government of India, ” he said.
The LG said: “This was a challenging project and I commend Jammu Smart City for their efforts. I am confident that the people of Jammu will greatly appreciate and enjoy the Tawi Riverfront once completed.”.
Sinha was accompanied by key officials, including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Additional Chief Secretary (Jal Shakti) Shaleen Kabra, Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor Dr. Mandeep Bhandari, and Commissioner/Secretary for Housing & Urban Development Ms. Mandeep Kaur. Senior officials, including Yudhvir Sethi (Member of Legislative Assembly) and Devansh Yadav (CEO, Jammu Smart City Limited), were also present during the inspection. (News Vibes of India)
