Srinagar, Dec 5 (NVI): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today his government has to fight a long battle for statehood restoration in Jammu and Kashmir while as they would hold fresh talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah over the issue.
. Speaking to reporters here, Omar said that the demand for statehood was non-negotiable. “We are fighting a long battle,” he said.
He also sharply criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which had previously stated that it could not appease Muslims. “While they can’t appease us, they must not threaten or target us for practicing our religion,” Omar said, condemning the attacks on religious sites, including shrines, masjids in various parts of the country. He added,”This is not the India our forefathers fought for or envisioned,” highlighting his concerns about the growing communal divide and religious intolerance under the current government.
