Srinagar, Dec 23 (NVI): Hundreds of young protestors gathered outside Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s residence in Srinagar to oppose the state’s reservation policy today. The protest, led by National Conference (NC) MP Ruhullah Mehdi, voiced strong concerns over the policy’s impact on certain communities.

In his address, Mehdi sharply criticized the reservation system, calling it unjust and divisive. “The government must ensure fairness and equality in its policies. The current system marginalizes many deserving groups,” Mehdi said, urging the government to revise the policy for a more inclusive and equitable approach.

The protest saw support from several political leaders, including People’s Democratic Party (PDP) legislator Waheed Para, who expressed solidarity with the youth. “This protest is not just about reservation; it is also about the government’s failure to address the aspirations of the younger generation,” Para stated.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Kashmir’s head priest, also voiced his support, emphasizing the need for transparency and justice in governance. “The government must listen to the youth’s grievances and ensure that no community is discriminated against,” Mirwaiz said.

Protestors carried banners and raised slogans demanding immediate reform of the reservation policy. (News Vibes of India)
