DIG South Kashmir range inaugurates advanced canine facility in Anantnag district

Srinagar, Jan 10 (NVI): The district Police of Anantnag district of South Kashmir achieved a significant milestone in modern policing as DIG South Kashmir Range Javid Iqbal Matoo inaugurated a state-of-the-art Dog Kennel facility at District Police Lines.

Accompanied by SSP Anantnag Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, the DIG emphasized the facility’s importance in strengthening the police force’s operational capabilities.

Designed to support crime detection, search-and-rescue missions, and explosives detection, the advanced kennel provides an ideal environment for training and maintaining police dogs. Highlighting the critical role of canine units, DIG Matoo stated, “This facility is a testament to our commitment to modernizing policing practices and enhancing public safety.”

SSP Anantnag, Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, commended the team for their efforts in establishing the kennel and reaffirmed the department’s dedication to adopting advanced tools to ensure effective policing.

The event was attended by senior officials, including SP Headquarters Anantnag Shri Sajad Ahmad, DySP Headquarters Anantnag Shri Mohammad Ayoub, DySP DAR Anantnag Shri Rouf Baba, and other police personnel.

A live demonstration of the trained canine unit’s skills was the highlight of the inauguration, showcasing their expertise in tracking, detecting explosives, and aiding investigations. The demonstration received widespread appreciation and underscored the operational readiness of the district’s police force.
