PoK resident detained near LoC in Poonch on Republic Day

Jammu, Jan 26 (NVI): In a significant development on Republic Day, the Indian Army detained a resident of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district after receiving reports of suspicious activity in the area.

Sources said that a local resident of Salotri village raised the alarm after noticing a man loitering near his house. Acting on the tip-off, Army personnel rushed to the spot and apprehended the individual.

The detainee has been identified as Mohammad Faiz Yasir (31), son of Faiz Akbar, a resident of Tetrinote village in PoK. The Army has launched an initial investigation to ascertain the purpose of his presence near the LoC and any possible security threats.

Preliminary inquiries are underway, and the detainee is expected to be handed over to Poonch Police for further questioning and legal proceedings. Authorities are also probing whether the individual inadvertently crossed the border or had any ulterior motives.

The incident highlights the heightened vigilance maintained by security forces along the LoC, especially during national events like Republic Day, ensuring the safety and security of border areas. (News Vibes of India)
