Notorious drug peddler arrested in Kupwara after 14 months on the run

Kupwara, Jan 30(NVI): In a major breakthrough against the drug menace, police in Kupwara have arrested a notorious drug peddler who had been evading arrest for over a year.

The accused, Jameel Khan, son of Gh Qadir Khan, a resident of Dever Lolab, was wanted in connection with FIR No. 90/2023 under the NDPS Act at Police Station Lalpora. The case was registered on November 14, 2023, and Khan had been absconding since then to avoid legal action.

Acting on credible intelligence inputs, a special team from PS Lalpora launched a well-coordinated operation that led to his arrest. Officials have termed this as a significant step in the fight against drug trafficking in the region.

Jammu and Kashmir Police reiterated its commitment to ensuring a drug-free society and urged the public to report any drug-related activities. Citizens can provide information anonymously, and authorities have assured strict action against those involved in drug peddling.
