Jammu, Feb 21 (PTI) Top Army officials of India and Pakistan held a meeting today at the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch sector of Jammu over recent border ceasefire violations from the Pakistani side, officials said here.
The two delegations were led by Brigadiers at the ‘Flag Meeting’ held at Chakkan-da-Bagh border point, the officials said.
The meeting took place at around 10.30 AM and details were yet not disclosed by either side.
The meeting was convened in the wake of ceasefire violations from the Pakistani side recently, which included cross-border firing and explosions that caused casualties on the Indian side.
Just last week, two Indian army personnel, including a Captain, were killed when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), planted suspectedly by terrorists, went off near the border fence in Akhnoor sector of Jammu.
Earlier, two Indian army personnel were injured in separate incidents of cross-border firing along the LoC in Rajouri and Poonch districts.
Indian Army retaliated to the unprovoked firing from the Pakistani side and it reportedly caused “heavy casualties” there.
These violations from the Pakistani side have taken place despite border ceasefire being in place since February 25, 2021. (NVI)
