Srinagar, Mar 2 (NVI): The Kashmir Zone Police on Monday appealed to people to maintain peace and exercise restraint in view of the recent developments in the Middle East, while warning of strict legal action against those involved in violence and disruption of public order.

In a statement issued here, a police spokesperson said that citizens have the right to express their views peacefully and through lawful means, but incidents of rioting, stone-pelting, clashes and disturbance of public order reported at some places are unacceptable.

“Violence, damage to property and confrontation with security forces lead to injuries, loss of life, imposition of restrictions, closure of educational institutions and hardships for families, traders, students and daily wagers,” the statement said.

The police appealed to all sections of society to remain calm and refrain from violence and provocation.

It further warned that strict legal action will be taken against instigators and miscreants involved in unlawful activities, adding that authorities are committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the safety of life and property. (NVI)
