Heavy Rain/Snow Likely in J&K from March 9 Night

Srinagar, Mar 7 (NVI): Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness widespread rain and snowfall from the night of March 9 to March 12 as a moderate to strong Western Disturbance is expected to affect the region, according to Kashmir Weather Forecast.

As per the forecast, heavy snowfall is likely over higher reaches including Sonamarg–Zojila axis, Sinthan Top–Peer Ki Gali, Razdan Top–Sadhna Top and Gurez Valley, along with other upper reaches of the Union Territory. Very heavy snow accumulation is expected over extreme higher altitudes.

The Kashmir plains are likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms, with North Kashmir expected to witness relatively higher activity.

The peak weather activity is expected during the evenings of March 10 and March 12, the forecast said.

A detailed weather update is expected to be issued tomorrow, it added.—(NVI)
