Jammu, Mar 7 (NVI): Manoj Sinha on Saturday inaugurated infrastructure upgradation and beautification works at the revered Shiv Khori Shrine in Reasi district, aimed at improving facilities for pilgrims and promoting spiritual tourism in the region.

The project has been executed by JSW Group under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

Addressing the gathering, Sinha thanked Sajjan Jindal, Chairman and Managing Director of JSW Group, and his team for their contribution to the project, describing it as a meaningful effort towards preserving shared spiritual heritage.

The Lieutenant Governor said the administration had been awaiting the completion of the project since signing a memorandum of understanding with JSW Group in 2023. He said the development marks a step towards strengthening the spiritual significance of Shiv Khori and improving access for devotees.

Highlighting future plans, Sinha said a helipad at the shrine is likely to be completed this month and heli-services could begin from April. He also announced construction of a protective track shed for pilgrims to safeguard them from inclement weather and shooting stones.

He said an alternative track between Ram Mandir and Shiv Khori would be developed to reduce congestion during peak pilgrimage seasons, while repair and renovation of the Ransoo shrine building and existing tracks would also be undertaken.

Improved sanitation facilities, a serai and langar facility for pilgrims will also be developed, he added.

Sinha also suggested introducing a sound and light show at the shrine and said the feasibility of a ropeway project could be explored.

The Lieutenant Governor flagged off a garbage collection vehicle donated by Jammu and Kashmir Bank to the Shri Shiv Khori Shrine Board.

Among those present on the occasion were MLA Reasi Kuldeep Raj Dubey, Divisional Commissioner Jammu and Chairman Shiv Khori Shrine Board Ramesh Kumar, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range Sarah Rizvi, Deputy Commissioner Reasi Kumar Abhishek and other senior officials, besides a large number of devotees. (NVI)
