Mehbooba Mufti Raises Issue of Kashmiri Students’ Safety in Iran, Seeks Their Early Return

Srinagar, Mar 9 (KNC): Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti on Monday visited the Iranian Cultural Centre and embassy in New Delhi to offer condolences over the demise of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

During the visit, Mufti expressed solidarity with the people of Iran and paid tributes to Khamenei, describing his death as a significant loss.
She also raised concerns about the safety of Kashmiri students currently in Iran and urged the Iranian authorities to ensure their protection and facilitate their early return.

According to a statement issued by the PDP, Mufti held discussions with the Iranian ambassador and other officials and sought their cooperation in safeguarding the well-being of students from Jammu and Kashmir studying in various parts of Iran.

She emphasised the need for coordinated efforts to ensure that the students return home safely at the earliest.

Mufti also conveyed her sympathies to the people of Iran and prayed for peace and stability in the region.—(NVI)
