Srinagar, Apr 7 (NVI): A fire broke out at the security barrack of a Food Corporation of India (FCI) godown in the Mirbazar area of Kulgam district along the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway on Tuesday, officials said.
They said the blaze originated in the barrack designated for security personnel and was soon noticed by locals and staff in the vicinity.
Fire and Emergency Services personnel rushed to the spot and launched an operation to douse the flames, they said, adding that the fire was brought under control after sustained efforts.
No loss of life or injuries were reported in the incident, officials said. However, some property damage to the barrack was reported.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and an investigation has been initiated, they added.(NVI)
