Srinagar, Apr 8 (NVI): National Conference President Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday delivered a strong message advocating diplomacy over conflict, asserting that dialogue remains the only viable path to resolving global tensions, as he welcomed reports of a ceasefire between the United States and Iran.
Addressing media persons in Srinagar, Abdullah said war has never yielded solutions and only brings devastation. He praised the willingness of nations to engage in talks, calling it a step in the right direction toward global stability.
“War is not the solution to anything. It has never been, and it never will be. I congratulate those countries that are choosing dialogue over destruction,” he said.
Expressing deep concern over the recent escalation, Abdullah noted that conflicts of such scale have far-reaching consequences, impacting not just the countries involved but the entire world. He highlighted the strain on global economies and energy resources, warning that instability often leads to rising fuel prices and economic hardship for ordinary people.
He also pointed out the indirect impact on Jammu and Kashmir, particularly on residents working in Gulf countries whose livelihoods are closely tied to regional stability.
“Humanity must prevail. We need peace, not war,” Abdullah stressed, cautioning that continued hostilities would only deepen global crises.
Calling for a broader commitment to peace, he urged India to maintain friendly relations with all nations and play a constructive role on the world stage. He also appealed to neighboring countries, including Pakistan, to abandon conflict and embrace cooperation and brotherhood.
Abdullah expressed hope that ongoing negotiations would succeed, leading to lasting peace, while warning that any further escalation could trigger severe economic consequences worldwide.(NVI)
