Kabul, Apr 27: Pakistan again resorted to aggression against Afghanistan today, carrying out cross-border missile attack which killed at least 3 persons and injured 45 others, mostly women and children.

The attacks were carried out in Asadabad city, the centre of Kunar province, which borders Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

At least three people were killed and 45 others were injured in a missile attack by the Pakistani military, said Najibullah Hanif, head of Information and Culture of Kunar province.

This action by Pakistan comes weeks after intense clashes provoked by the attacks on Afghanistan.

Those clashes in March left hundreds of civilians and soldiers dead on both sides of the border.

The fighting stopped when the two countries agreed on a ceasefire on the eve of Eid al-Fitr on March 18, following intervention of Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar.

Later, China played a mediator, hosting leaders from both Pakistan and Afghanistan for week-long talks with the aim of bringing about lasting peace between the two neighbours.

China subsequently said Afghanistan and Pakistan had agreed to “discuss a comprehensive plan to resolve issues” affecting ties.
