Srinagar, Apr 28 (NVI): Police on Tuesday launched coordinated cordon and search operations (CASOs) at multiple locations in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district as part of an intensified drive against drug trafficking, officials said.

The operations were carried out at around 20 identified hotspot locations across the district, targeting suspected narcotics networks.

Police teams, assisted by K9 squads, conducted searches at the residences of suspected drug peddlers to trace and recover narcotics and other incriminating material, officials said.

They added that a survey of properties allegedly linked to drug trafficking is also underway, and action, including attachment under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, may be initiated.

The crackdown is part of an ongoing crackdown to dismantle the financial and operational networks involved in drug trade in the district, police said.

Further details are awaited.(NVI)
