Srinagar, June 5 (NVI): The Indian Army’s Chinar Corps on Friday organised a series of activities in Kupwara and Uri to mark World Environment Day, aimed at promoting environmental awareness and sustainable practices among the youth and local communities.
Held under the theme “Hamari Sarzameen, Hamara Mustaqbil” (Our Land, Our Future), the programmes witnessed participation from students, teachers, residents and environmental enthusiasts from different parts of the region.
According to a defence spokesperson, the activities included a “Best Out of Waste” competition, waste collection challenge, waste segregation game, eco-quizzes and an eco-friendly selfie point to encourage environmental responsibility and awareness.
Students from various schools and colleges actively participated in the events, showcasing creativity and commitment towards environmental conservation.
As part of the observance, the Army also conducted a plantation drive to promote green cover and reinforce the importance of protecting natural resources.
The Chinar Corps said such initiatives reflect its continued efforts to foster environmental consciousness and community participation in conservation activities across Jammu and Kashmir.(NVI)
