Flood-Hit Poonch, Rajouri: Sunil Sharma Reviews Ground Situation

Jammu, July 20 (NVI): Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Sunil Sharma, on Sunday visited the flood-affected areas of Poonch and Rajouri districts to assess the damage caused by recent heavy rains and review the ongoing relief and rehabilitation measures.

According to Sharma, accompanied by a BJP delegation comprising Ravinder Raina, Sham Lal Sharma (MLA), Shehnaz Ganie, Gopal Mahajan, Mohan Lal (MLA) and Zorawar Singh, met affected families and took stock of the situation on the ground.

During the visit, Sharma interacted with the victims, listened to their grievances and expressed concern over the hardships faced by them. He assured the affected families that every possible support would be extended to them.

He also urged the district administration to expedite rescue and relief operations, restore essential services without delay and ensure effective rehabilitation of the affected families.

The Leader of Opposition said a detailed report on the losses and damage in Poonch and Rajouri would be submitted to the Central Government, seeking adequate assistance for relief and rehabilitation. He said the concerns of the affected people would be taken up with the appropriate authorities to ensure timely support.

Sharma said the Central Government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has always stood by the people during times of crisis and expressed hope that all necessary assistance would be provided through coordinated efforts.

He stressed the need for close coordination among all agencies to ensure prompt relief and rehabilitation, adding that the people of the twin border districts deserve priority attention in the aftermath of the disaster.

The BJP delegation reiterated its commitment to supporting the affected families and assured that their issues would continue to be raised before the concerned authorities. (NVI)
