Jammu, Aug 29 (NVI): Train services between Budgam in central Kashmir and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK) resumed on Saturday after remaining suspended for nearly two months in view of the annual Amarnath Yatra.
The service had been suspended from June 29, ahead of the commencement of the 57-day-long pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine of Amarnath, which concluded on Friday.
According to Northern Railway’s Jammu division, Train Nos. 04688 and 04687 operating between Budgam and SVDK have been restored from August 29 and will operate on their regular route as per the scheduled timings.
As per the revised schedule, Train No. 04688 will depart from Budgam at 7:20 am and reach Katra at 1 pm. In the return direction, Train No. 04687 will leave Katra at 1:45 pm and arrive at Budgam at 8 pm.
The resumption of the direct service is expected to provide relief to commuters and facilitate travel for residents of Kashmir as well as pilgrims visiting the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine.(NVI)
