New Delhi, Sep 27 (NVI) The Indian Air Force on Yesterday commenced the operational phase of the multilateral air exercise Tarang Shakti 2026 at Air Force Station Jodhpur, with seven foreign countries participating in the drills.
The exercise, being conducted from September 26 to October 12 under the theme “Power in Partnership”, aims to enhance interoperability, exchange operational expertise and strengthen cooperation among participating air forces.
Australia, the US, the UAE, France, Germany, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are participating in the exercise.
The foreign aircraft taking part include the F-35 Lightning II, Rafale, F-16, A400M, MRTT, C-130, C-130J and KC-30A, bringing together a mix of combat, airlift and air-to-air refuelling capabilities, the IAF said.
Building on the inaugural edition held in 2024, the exercise will provide participating air forces an opportunity for advanced joint training and exchange of operational experience.
The participating contingents will operate alongside the IAF across a range of missions involving frontline combat aircraft and support elements. Several other friendly foreign countries will also participate as observers.
The exercise will also facilitate interaction among aircrew, mission planners and operational support personnel, with a focus on interoperability, mutual learning, aerospace safety and understanding of operational procedures.
Apart from flying operations, Tarang Shakti 2026 will include professional, cultural and outreach activities such as a seminar, industrial tours, the Sekhon Marathon, heritage tours and yoga sessions.
The IAF said the exercise will provide an opportunity to showcase its operational capabilities and professional standards, besides highlighting India’s indigenous aerospace and defence capabilities.
The exercise is aimed at strengthening military cooperation and partnerships through shared operational experience and is intended to contribute to regional peace, security and stability, it said.—(NVI)
