New Delhi, Oct 22 (NVI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday announced the launch of ‘Project Karmaveer’, an initiative to provide livelihood opportunities to widows of police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty, as well as former personnel.
Under the initiative, 400 Common Service Centres (CSCs) will be operated across the country by the beneficiaries, Shah said in a post on X on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day.
Describing police personnel and CAPF jawans as “true karmaveers”, the Home Minister said they placed duty above everything else and made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.
The initiative is aimed at honouring their sacrifices while supporting their families and former colleagues through sustainable livelihood opportunities, he said.
The centres will provide a range of services, including pension-related assistance, banking facilities and other citizen services, enabling the beneficiaries to earn a respectable livelihood.
Shah said Project Karmaveer was being launched in recognition of the dedication and sacrifices of police and CAPF personnel and to help their families and former colleagues build sustainable sources of income.—(NVI)
