New Delhi, Oct 23 (NVI): Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday called upon the Army’s top leadership to develop a long-term strategic vision for the next 20-30 years while remaining prepared to deal with immediate and emerging security challenges.

Addressing the Army Commanders’ Conference here, Singh stressed the need to closely monitor geopolitical and regional developments and maintain flexible strategies to respond to the evolving security environment.

Commending the armed forces for their performance during Operation Sindoor, he said innovative thinking, enhanced synergy, superior coordination and advanced weaponry had contributed to the operation’s success.

The operation sent a clear message that India would not hesitate to take necessary measures to safeguard its national interests, the defence minister said.

Singh appreciated the Army’s restructuring initiatives, particularly the increasing use of drones and modern technologies, and called for strengthening operational capabilities through continuous assessment and improvements.

He emphasised the need to accelerate efforts in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, data analytics, cybersecurity and secure communication networks.—(NVI)
