Jammu, Nov 2 (NVI): An old and rusty unexploded mortar shell was found during excavation work in the RS Pura sector of Jammu on Monday, officials said.
The suspected explosive object was spotted by labourers engaged in excavation work near Border Outpost (BOP) Jai Kishan Chakroi, they said.
The labourers immediately informed the concerned authorities, following which the BSF alerted the RS Pura police.
The police subsequently informed the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) of Police Control Room (PCR), Jammu, to take necessary measures for the safe disposal of the explosive object.
Further details regarding the incident and disposal of the mortar shell are awaited.—(NVI)
