Peshawar, Mar 6: Even as the Afghan Taliban forces have mounted a massive offensive against the Pakistani military on the border, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) continues to cause heavy damage to it from within as it now has killed 23 soldiers and injured several others in multiple attacks across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province in the last two days.
The biggest attack was carried out in Tank district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the TTP fighters stormed a post manned jointly by the paramilitary Frontier Corps (FC) and Police in Gomal area.
The post’s main gate and three vehicles parked there were also completely destroyed, said TTP spokesman Muhammad Khorasani in a statement.
At least 14 personnel of the FC and police were killed and several injured in the attack, he said.
In North Waziristan district, 3 Pakistani soldiers were confirmed dead when TTP fighters fired an Al-Farooq missile at a military fort in Miranshah area, Khorasani said.
The attack also caused substantial damage to the complex, raising possibility about further losses of soldiers and ammunition.
There is also a strong possibility of casualties in a grenade attack carried out by TTP on a military position in Mir Ali area of North Waziristan, the spokesman said.
In Lakki Marwat district, 2 Pakistani soldiers were killed and three were wounded when TTP thwarted a raid by the Army in Pahar Khel Pakka area of Ghazni Khel, Khorasani said.
