Srinagar, Apr 16 (NVI): An active Western Disturbance is set to affect Jammu and Kashmir from Thursday, bringing widespread intermittent moderate to heavy rainfall and snowfall across the Union Territory till April 19, officials said.
The weather updates, the disturbance will first impact parts of North Kashmir before gradually extending to Central and South Kashmir regions.
The maximum impact is expected over North and Central Kashmir, where moderate to heavy rainfall is likely at several places. Upper reaches may receive moderate snowfall, with isolated higher-altitude areas likely to witness heavy snowfall.
The peak phase of the weather activity is forecast between the night of April 18 and the afternoon of April 19, when precipitation intensity is expected to be at its highest.
Authorities have also warned of gusty winds and the possibility of hailstorms at isolated locations during this period.
Rainfall is expected to occur in intermittent spells with breaks, rather than continuous downpour. A noticeable drop in temperatures is also anticipated, particularly between April 18 and 19.
Weather conditions are expected to improve from April 20 onwards, bringing relief after the brief spell of adverse weather.(NVI)
