Srinagar, Aug 28 (NVI): The Election Commission of India has passed directions for the transfer of Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) of Baramulla, Kupwara and Senior Superintendent of Police Handwara ahead of the Assembly polls in J&K.
The poll body has asked the J&K administration to submit a panel of IPS officers for filling the posts which includes SSP Srinagar besides SSP Baramulla, Kupwara and SP Handwara.
The order in this regard is expected shortly. The EC, as per reliable sources has approved to relieve the SSP Srinagar Ashish Mishra. He was transferred from J&K to Delhi police in June 2023 but wasn’t relieved due to administrative hitches.
The Commission has also cleared the appointment of IPS officer Nalin Prabhat as DG (Operations and Security) of J-K Police till September 30. He is currently on inter-cadre deputation and posted as Special DG, J-K till September 30. Prabhat, the former DG NSG will take over as the J&K DGP on October 1, reliving the DGP Rashmi Ranjan Swain.
Sources said that the EC has also cleared the extension of inter-cadre deputation tenure of IAS officer Syeed Fakhruddin Hamid, the deputy commissioner of Anantnag, for a period of two years.
The sources said Baramulla SSP Gurinderpal Singh, Handwara SP Dawood Ayoub, and Kupwara SSP Shobhit Saxena have been transferred. “A formal order in this regard will be issued shortly,” the sources said. (News Vibes of India)
