Srinagar, July (NVI):- The Amarnath Yatra has been temporarily suspended from both Pahalgam and Baltal routes due to heavy rainfall.
The decision to halt the pilgrimage as per officials was made to ensure safety of the pilgrims.
It may be mentioned here that rains in a mountainous area sometimes triggers landslides which can cause human casualties.
Authorities are monitoring the weather conditions and the Yatra will resume once the situation improves and it is deemed safe for the pilgrims to continue their journey.
The yatra began on June 29 and will conclude on August 19. (NVI)
