New Delhi, Oct 19 (NVI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah will pay homage to police martyrs at the National Police Memorial in New Delhi on October 21 on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day and flag off a motorcycle rally involving around 90 police riders from various states, Union Territories and central forces, the Ministry of Home Affairs said.

The motorcycle rally is part of a nationwide campaign themed ‘Fight Against Drugs’, aimed at raising awareness against drug abuse and highlighting the role of police forces in combating the menace.

The riders will represent Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, besides various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), including the CRPF, CISF, BSF, SSB, ITBP and NSG.

Personnel from Central Police Organisations, including the Railway Protection Force (RPF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and National Investigation Agency (NIA), will also participate in the rally.

According to the ministry, police riders from all states and Union Territories, along with personnel from central forces, will travel to Ekta Nagar in Gujarat to participate in the Ekta Parade on October 31.

The initiative seeks to highlight the collective commitment of police organisations and security forces towards building a drug-free society while promoting national unity and cooperation among law enforcement agencies.

Police Commemoration Day is observed every year on October 21 to honour police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty. The National Police Memorial in the national capital stands as a tribute to their sacrifice and service to the nation.—(NVI)
