New Delhi, Sep 16 (NVI): Chief of the Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth on Wednesday embarked on a three-day official visit to Russia aimed at further strengthening defence cooperation and military-to-military ties between the two countries.
During his visit from September 16 to 18, General Seth will receive a ceremonial Guard of Honour and pay homage to fallen soldiers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Moscow, according to the Ministry of Defence.
He is scheduled to hold talks with Colonel General Andrei Nikolayevich Mordvichev, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Land Forces, on issues of mutual interest, including professional military cooperation and training.
The Army chief will also visit the National Defence Control Centre in Moscow and interact with senior Russian Defence Ministry officials, including Deputy Defence Minister Vasily Sergeyevich Osmakov, who handles defence industry and procurement.
The engagements are expected to provide an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on contemporary military developments and explore avenues for enhancing defence cooperation.
General Seth will also travel to St Petersburg, where he is scheduled to visit the Mikhailovskaya Military Artillery Academy and interact with its leadership and faculty.
The visit underscores the importance attached by India and Russia to sustained military diplomacy and Army-to-Army engagement, the ministry said.—(NVI)
