Srinagar (NVI): A Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of the Army was killed in a fresh ceasefire violation along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kesser Gali area of Rajouri district, officials said.

They said that a JCO, who was deployed on a forward post along the LoC in Kesser Gali post, sustained serious injuries in the unprovoked ceasefire violation by the Pakistani army last evening. “He was shifted to army hospital, but he succumbed,” the defence officials said.

Today’s causality to the army comes barely three days after a JCO posted on a forward post along the LoC in Rajouri district was killed. He was identified as Naib Subedar Rajwinder Singh.

Pertinently, this year a record number of CFVs took place in areas close to LoC and International Border. Over 1,800 ceasefire violations took place along the LoC and IB in both regions of Jammu and Kashmir. Many civilians were killed in the CFV while army too suffered heavy losses.
