Army man killed, another injured in Pak firing in J&Ks Rajouri

Srinagar (NVI): An Army soldier was killed while another injured in a ceasefire violation by Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC) in Lam area of Nowshera in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, the officials said.

They said that the Pakistan Army violated the unprovoked ceasefire by targeting the Indian Army posts in the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Indian army gave a befitting response to the unprovoked firing by Pakistan.

“Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation on the line of control (LoC) in Nowshera Sector, District Rajouri (J&K). Own troops responded strongly to the enemy fire. In the incident, Hav Patil Sangram Shivaji was critically injured and later succumbed to his injuries,” the Defence Ministry said in a statement.

“Hav Patil Sangram Shivaji was a brave, highly motivated and a sincere soldier. The nation will always remain indebted to him for his supreme sacrifice and devotion to duty,” the ministry added.

The police officials also said that another soldier injured in the firing was shifted to Army hospital for the treatment.

Furthermore, the officials informed that intermittent firing and shelling was going on in the Lam area.
