Army porter killed as Pak violates ceasefire along LoC in J&K’s Baramulla

Srinagar (NVI): An army porter was killed after Pakistan resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation in Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, defence officials said today.

Defence spokesman in Srinagar, Colonel Rajesh Kalia said that Pakistan initiated an unprovoked ceasefire violation today along the LoC in Uri sector of Baramulla district by firing mortars and other weapons. “An army porter got injured in the CFV, succumbed to injuries. Befitting response was given,” he added.

Defence sources identified the slain porter as Altaf Hussain, a resident of Gohalan village of Uri. They said that the slain porter was working with the Army’s 11 Mahar unit and was posted with Tika Rajput, Lachipora post along LoC in Uri.
