New Delhi (NVI): The Army Headquarters is in the process of convening a special selection board for screening women officers after receiving formal government approval letter for the grant of a Permanent Commission (PC) to women officers in the Indian Army, the Ministry of Defence said today.

“Detailed administrative instructions have been issued to all the affected women officers giving guidelines for submission of applications for consideration by the board,” an official release by Defence Ministry stated.

The ministry also said that, women officers who joined the Army through the Women’s Special Entry Scheme (WSES) and Short Service Commission (SSCW) are being considered.

They have been instructed to submit their application forms, option certificates and other documents to Army Headquarters by August 31, it added.

Meanwhile, specimen formats and detailed checklists have been included in the administrative instructions in order to facilitate correct documentation.

The ministry further stated that due to the prevailing restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 situation, multiple means of dissemination of instructions have been adopted to ensure that these documents reach all affected women officers on priority.

“The Selection Board will be scheduled immediately after receipt and verification of applications,” it said.
