Bandipora, November 28 (NVI): The Indian Army’s Rana Battalion organized a community event on Thursday at Peer Baba Bagtore area near the Line of Control (LoC) in Gurez Valley, Bandipora district. The event was well-attended by local residents, highlighting the strong bond between the Army and the community.
The occasion was attended by the Commanding Officer (CO) of the Army, along with the Second-in-Command (2IC), former Sarpanch of Kanzalwan Ghulam Mohideen Lone, and other dignitaries. During the program, The Army also distributed essential supplies and winter relief material to assist residents in coping with the harsh weather conditions in this remote region. Additionally, awareness programs on health, hygiene, and education were conducted, reflecting the Army’s commitment to holistic development in the area.
Speaking on the occasion, a senior Army officer emphasized the importance of building trust and camaraderie with the local communities. “The Army is not only here to ensure security but also to work hand-in-hand with the people for their welfare. Events like these strengthen the bond between the forces and the citizens,” he remarked.
Local residents expressed their gratitude for the Army’s efforts, highlighting the positive impact of such initiatives on their lives. “The Army has always been a pillar of support for us, especially in challenging times. This event shows their commitment to our well-being and development,” said a local villager.
Former Sarpanch of Kanzalwan, Ghulam Mohideen Lone, praised the Army’s efforts, saying, “The event witnessed huge participation from the local population. The Army has always supported us, and we are deeply grateful for their continued assistance.”
Another local resident, Mohammad Sultan, said that the Indian Army organized an excellent program. The Army’s CO Sir and other officers graced the occasion at Peer Baba, personally distributing gifts. “We are very thankful to the Army and hopeful for more such events in the area to strengthen the relationship between the Army and local residents,” he said.
