Assam DGP tests corona positive

New Delhi (NVI): Assam Director General of Police (DGP), Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta has tested positive for coronavirus and has put himself under home isolation.

DGP Mahanta tested positive for the virus during Rapid Antigen Test, after he suffered from mild fever yesterday and decided to undergo COVID-19 test.

Along with Mahanta, his diver has also been tested positive for COVID-19 today. However, his security guards have tested negative for the virus.

Earlier on August 6, the security guard of DGP Mahanta had tested positive for coronavirus.

So far, a total of 2,259 Assam police personnel had tested positive for COVID-19, out of which 1,734 had recovered, six other positive personnel lost their lives due to infection.

Notably, Assam has thus far recorded a total of 58,837 cases of COVID-19, including 42,325 recoveries and 145 deaths.
