Heavy rains expected in Assam, Meghalaya

New Delhi (NVI): Parts of Assam and Meghalaya are expected to receive heavy rainfall, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said today.

The department also predicted that Jharkhand, West Bengal & Sikkim, Lakshadweep and Kerala & Mahe will also witness with lightning at isolated places.

“Thunderstorm with lightning & squall (speed reaching 50-60 kmph) very likely at isolated places over Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura; with lightning & gusty winds (speed reaching 30-40 kmph) at isolated places over Jharkhand, West Bengal & Sikkim, Lakshadweep and Kerala & Mahe and with lightning at isolated places over Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Karnataka and Telangana,” the IMD noted.

“Heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places over south Assam & Meghalaya,” IMD further stated.

According to the Department, on April 9 and 10, Arunachal Pradesh will witness heavy rainfall.

“Lightning & gusty winds likely (speed reaching 30-40 kmph) at isolated places over Jharkhand, Arunachal Pradesh and Kerala & Mahe and with lightning over Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathawada, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal and Lakshadweep,” IMD said.

“Heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh on April 9,10,” IMD added.

The IMD also said that heat wave conditions very likely in isolated pockets over northwest Jharkhand.

Meanwhile on April 12, heavy rainfall are likely at isolated places over Kerala & Mahe.
