Trump injured in assassination attempt

Washington: Former US President Donald Trump was shot at and injured by an unknown gunman in an assassination attempt sometime back (on Saturday night) during an election campaign rally in Butler area of Pennsylvania in the United States.

The shooting left one member of the audience dead and a Senator critically injured, according to CNN news channel.

The gunman was also shot dead in the retaliatory firing by the US Secret Service agents, the channel reported.

The visuals of incident showed a number of rounds being fired while Trump was addressing the rally for the Presidential Elections which he is contesting for the second time.

He immediately ducked and the Secret Service agents surrounded him till the firing by the gunman stopped.

As he was being evacuated, Trump was seen with blood on the right side of his face and gesturing that he was unfazed.

Later, Trump said on social media that he was hit by a bullet in the “upper part of my right ear.”

The Secret Service said he is safe after being injured.

A spokesperson said Trump is “fine” after the “heinous act.”

The Secret Service said the shooter fired multiple shots from an “elevated position” outside of the Trump rally before he was killed by agents.

The shooting is being investigated as an attempted assassination, according to law enforcement officials.

President Joe Biden denounced the incident in and said he’s “grateful” Trump is safe.
