New Delhi, May 5: The attack on Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) that resulted in injuries to three Indian nationals is “unacceptable”, India said today.

In a statement, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India calls for “immediate cessation of these hostilities and the targeting of civilian infrastructure and innocent civilians.”

Iran last night carried out missile and drone attacks at Fujairah, which is a key oil-rich region of the UAE in which 3 Indians were injured.

Significantly, the spokesman did not name Iran in the statement.

“India continues to stand for dialogue and diplomacy to deal with the situation, so that peace and stability may be restored across West Asia,” Jaiswal said.

“We also call for free and unimpeded navigation and commerce through the Strait of Hormuz in keeping with international law. India stands ready to support all efforts for a peaceful resolution of issues,” the spokesman added.
