Srinagar, Oct 14 (NVI) The higher education department of Jammu and Kashmir is facing a serious challenge, as government officials have raised serious concerns over the significant decline in student enrollment across various degree colleges in the Union Territory over the past few years.
In an official notice, a copy of which is with NVI, the principals of Government Degree Colleges and Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET) have been asked to address the issue by submitting their suggestions and opinions.
The principals have been requested to provide their inputs in a one-page, bullet-point format, to better understand the reasons behind the trend and to explore strategies to counter it.
The notice highlights the urgency of the situation, urging the college heads to submit their feedback by October 15, 2024, by 4:00 PM.
The decline in enrollment has raised concerns about the future of higher education in the region. It remains to be seen how authorities and educators will collaborate to ensure that these institutions can attract and retain students in the coming years.(News Vibes of India)
