New Delhi (NVI) Bharat Biotech, the manufacturer of Covaxin today said that its Covid-19 vaccine will be available for Rs 600 for state governments and Rs 1,200 for private hospitals as India grapples with shortage of oxygen and vaccines to deal with its second wave of coronavirus pandemic.
The announcement comes just three days after the Serum Institute of India (SII) fixed the price of corona vaccine its Covishield at Rs 400 per dose for state governments and Rs 600 per dose for private hospitals. Its price for Centre stays at Rs 150.
Bharat Biotech chairman and managing director Krishna M Ella, in a statement said, “Recovering costs is essential in the journey of innovation towards other vaccines such as Intranasal COVID-19…Our core mission for the last 25 years has been to provide affordable, yet world-class healthcare solutions for the globe.”
“Bharat Biotech is honoured to develop, manufacture and supply Covaxin for India’s vaccine rollout at rs 150 per dose, which is distributed for free by the Government of India. We would like to state that more than 50% of our capacities have been reserved for central government supplies,” it added.
