Srinagar, Aug 29 (NVI): Bhartiya Janata Party’s (BJP’s) General Secretary Tarun Chugh lashed out at the Abdullah’s and Mufti’s today while inviting Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti for an open debate on what has changed post Article 370 roll back in J&K.
Addressing a press conference in Jammu, Chug said that Abdullah’s and Mufti’s turned J&K into a living hell as terrorism and separatism flourished during their rule in J&K.
“Stone pelting, terrorism and separatism flourished in J&K since 1990. Nobody can deny that. I dare Omar and Mehbooba for an open debate. Let media men decide venue and time for the debate. We have the figures on what has changed post August 5, 2019 in J&K.
Terrorism is all time low, stone pelting has vanished and there is nothing called fake encounter now. Youth are chasing their dreams,” he said.
He said let Omar and Mehbooba debate with BJP leaders on “what has changed in J&K post Article 370 roll back.”
“As per the official figures in 2018, 55 civilian killings took place and there were only 23 in 2023 and just 14 in 2024 so far. In 2018, 90 security forces personnel were killed but in 2023 there were only 30 and the number has gone down to just 14 in 2024,” he said, in 2023 and 2024, there were zero stone pelting incidents in Kashmir. Chugh, who was flanked by Union Minister G K Reddy, two party MPs—Jugal Kishore and Dr Jitendera Singh, accused National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah of being responsible for the mass exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990 from Valley. He said does Dr Farooq Abdullah want to revive terrorism in Kashmir by advocating release of terror mentors who are in jails. “NC and PDP are trying to revive the terrorism in J&K as their manifestos reflect pro-terror and pro-separatist policies and vision,” Chugh said.(News Vibes of India)
