Blast in Kabul kills 9, injures 6 including Afghan MP

New Delhi (NVI) At least nine people were killed and six others were left injured including a member of parliament in a powerful explosion that rocked Kabul city this morning, according to local media reports.

The blast took place in Spin Kalay square in PD5 of the city, reports TOLO news.

According to the Afghan Interior Ministry’s deputy spokesman, three vehicles caught fire in the area (PD5). However, it is unclear if the explosion is the cause, as per TOLO news.

The vehicle of Haji Khan Mohammad Wardak, a member of parliament from Kabul, was targeted in the blast. Wardak survived the attack and was shifted to a hospital for injuries.

On the other hand, the Afghan Ministry of Interior (MoI) in a statement said that at least 8 people were killed and 15 were wounded in the explosion.

“The terrorists today carried out a terror attack in PD5 of Kabul city. Children, women and elderly people are among those wounded. Homes around the area have been severely damaged. Unfortunately, eight of our compatriots were martyred and 15 more wounded, including Khan Mohammad Wardak, a member of parliament. These numbers might change,” the ministry was quoted as saying by TOLO news.
