Srinagar, Nov 26(NVI): Jammu and Kashmir Police today said that the blind hit-and-run case at Pattan, Baramulla district has been successfully cracked as it has arrested the driver involved and seized the vehicle used in the incident from Budgam district of Central Kashmir.
Addressing media , Deputy Superintendent of Police Shahe Jahan said that the incident took place on November 15, 2024, when the Palhallan Police Post received information about a hit-and-run involving an unidentified vehicle traveling from Baramulla towards Srinagar.
“The vehicle hit a pedestrian, Nazir Ahmad Sofi, son of the late Abdul Ahad Sofi, a resident of Saderbal Palhallan, near Parsa’s Restaurant in Palhallan,” he said
He said after receiving the report, an FIR (No. 314/2024) was promptly registered under sections 281, 125A, and 106 BNS at Police Station Pattan.
“The police immediately initiated an investigation to identify the driver and vehicle involved in the incident. Unfortunately, despite swift efforts, the pedestrian, Nazir Ahmadi Sofi, succumbed to his injuries after being transported to a nearby hospital,” he said.
He said the vehicle, bearing registration number JK04J 0917, was located and seized on November 26, 2024.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Ahmad Parray, son of Abdul Rashid Parray, a resident of Bun Zanigam in Budgam. Police said the arrest was made following extensive efforts by the police to gather evidence and identify the culprit behind the fatal accident. (News Vibes of India)
