Baramulla (NVI): Security forces today defused an ‘explosive substance’ in North Kashmir’s Baramulla that was fitted in a small iron box found on the roadside at Pothukha area, police said.
J&K Police and soldiers from 52 Rashtriya Rifles detected a small iron box that was lying on the roadside at Pothukha area that falls under the jurisdiction of Police Station Tarzoo in Sopore, they said.
The traffic was immediately suspended and Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was called in to search the suspicious iron box.
They said that an explosive substance was fitted in the box that was defused by the BDS without causing any harm.
When contacted, a police official said that the box was destroyed by BDS as a precautionary measure, though no explosives or IED were found in the box. He said some bank cheques were also recovered from the box.
A case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
