New Delhi (NVI): After receiving the COVID-19 vaccine doses, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi in tweet with an image of Lord Hanuman carrying ‘Sanjeevani booti’ in the form of vaccine from India to Brazil.
Taking to Twitter, Bolsonaro attached the picture of Lord Hanuman bringing vaccine from India to the Latin American country and said that he feels honoured to have a great partner like India to overcome a global obstacle.
“Namaskar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Brazil feels honoured to have a great partner to overcome a global obstacle by joining efforts. Thank you for assisting us with the vaccines exports from India to Brazil. Dhanyavaad!,” he wrote in Portuguese.
The Brazilian President used the reference from the Hindu epic Ramayana, where Lord Hanuman carries the life-saving ‘Sanjeevni booti’ to save Lord Ram’s brother Lakshman’s life.
PM Modi responded to his tweet, saying the honour was India’s in being a trusted partner of Brazil in fighting the pandemic together. “We will continue to strengthen our cooperation on healthcare,” the Prime Minister Modi wrote.

On January 22, India dispatched a total of two million doses of Covishield vaccines in the first consignment to Brazil. Two flights, each carrying 2 million vaccine doses for Brazil and Morocco took off from Mumbai’s Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) early on the day.
Covishield has been developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University and is being manufactured by Pune-based Serum Institute of India (SII).
Earlier, Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Embassy in New Delhi, had made arrangements with India and SII for the transportation of the COVID-19 vaccines to the Latin American country.
