CBSE class 10 & 12 exams postponed today in northeast Delhi over violence

New Delhi (NVI): The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) postponed Class 10, 12 exams in northeast Delhi today due to violence over Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), in the area.

However, the exams will be held in the remaining areas as per schedule, CBSE said in a statement today.

Exams for Class 10 and 12 were scheduled to be held today at 86 centres in north-east Delhi.

Meanwhile, Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia has said that all internal examinations in all private and government schools have been postponed. The exams will be held in remaining areas as per schedule, officials said.

“In violence-affected Northeast area, schools will be closed tomorrow as well. Internal examinations have been postponed. Have requested CBSE to postpone the board exam as well,” he said in a tweet.

The CBSE took the decision “based on the request of the Directorate of Education and the government of Delhi and to avoid inconvenience to students, staff and parents”.

They said it was hard for them to reach at the Centre due to violent clashes and riots in area.

Class 10 exams have been postponed for subjects of English Communicative, and English Language and Literature. For Class 12, the subjects for which exams gave been postponed are Web Application (Old), Web Application (New), and Media.

No fresh violence was reported in Delhi-NCR region today but tension was in the air, especially in the northeast district, where violence took place at several localities, including Chand Bagh and Bhajanpura, with stones and other missiles hurled and shops were set ablaze.
