China expresses sympathy with India over COVID situation, offers support

New Delhi (NVI): Chinese President Xi Jinping today expressed sympathy with India over current situation of COVID-19 in the country and offered its support in fighting the pandemic.

On micro blogging site Twitter, Chinese government official Sun Wiedong informed that President Xi Jinping said, “I am very concerned about the recent situation of COVID-19 pandemic in India. On behalf of the Chinese Government and people, as well as in my own name, I would like to express sincere sympathies to the Indian Government and people.”

“Humanity is a community with a shared future. Only through solidarity and cooperation can countries around the world ultimately defeat the pandemic,” he added.

The President assured support from Chinese governemnt and said that the country is ready to strengthen cooperation with the Indian side in fighting the pandemic.

“The Chinese side stands ready to strengthen cooperation with the Indian side in fighting the pandemic and provide support and help in this regard. I believe that under the leadership of the Indian Government, the Indian people will surely prevail over the pandemic,” Xi Jinping said.

India has reported highest single-day spike with 3,86,452 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total tally to 1,87,62,976 in the country.

The country has reported 3,498 deaths in the last 24 hours which took the total toll to 2,08,330 while 2,97,540 people have been recovered in the same period.
