Ganderbal, Dec 28 (NVI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today visited the snow-affected areas of Ganderbal district on Saturday, taking immediate stock of the challenges faced by residents following heavy snowfall.
The visit aimed to address urgent issues such as road blockages, power outages, and water supply disruptions, with the CM directly engaging with local officials and affected residents.
During the visit, Abdullah issued on-the-spot directions for the swift restoration of essential services, including the deployment of additional resources to clear blocked roads. He stressed the need for effective coordination between various departments to minimize disruption to daily life, particularly for vulnerable communities in remote areas.
Speaking to reporters, Abdullah said, “The immediate priority is to restore basic services and ensure that the people of Ganderbal are not left facing unnecessary hardships due to this snowfall. We are mobilizing all available resources to clear roads and restore power. This situation requires a concerted effort, and we are committed to addressing the concerns of every affected resident.”
Local officials briefed the CM on ongoing efforts to clear snow and restore power, with Abdullah assuring them of full support from the state government. The visit underscored the pressing need for improved winter preparedness in the region, with an eye on long-term solutions to address the recurring challenges posed by heavy snowfall each year.
