Jammu, Aug 04 (NVI): Stating that J&K is the first State in the history of India that was divided into two Union Territories, senior Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the parliament Rahul Gandhi today said INDIA block will mount pressure on BJP and ensure J&K gets back Statehood.
“Come what may, the INDIA block will build pressure on the BJP to restore Statehood to J&K. I have seen Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Arunachal Pradesh being converted into States but J&K is the first State that was sliced into two UTs—Ladakh and J&K,” Rahul thundered from the stage while addressing a rally at Ramban district of Jammu.
Ramban, Rahul said, is so beautiful that he wanted to spend at least two days here. “Let me tell you we are fighting the BJP and its ideologies. Wherever BJP would open the shops of hatred, we will open the shops of love,” he said. “I will come to Ramban and spend a few days here after the polls for sure.”
Rahul said that the first and foremost duty of the Congress and the INDIA bloc will be to ensure Statehood is restored at the earliest. “Even if BJP doesn’t agree, we will continue to build pressure to the extent that the saffron party will be left with no option other than to restore the Statehood for J&K,” he said. Rahul said that in J&K majority of power projects are run but people are being forced to pay huge electricity fees. “Isn’t this injustice,” he asked.
Taking a jibe at Prime Minister Narendera Modi, Rahul said that earlier, Modi used to claim that nobody can defeat him but when INDIA block showed a united face, Modi’s confidence was shaken and he had to forge alliance with others to form government. “Now, within a very short span, we will remove Modi from the post of Prime Ministership,” he said. “We have successfully been able to defeat Modi psychologically.”
Batting for the Congress party’s candidate from Banihal Vikar Rasool Wani, Rahul said NC-Congress alliance will form the government. Rahul is also schedule to address a massive gathering at Dooru, Anantnag at 3 pm where NC-Congress joint candidate Ghulam Ahmed Mir is contesting. (News Vibes of India)
